Business cards with hybrid varnish

Selective hybrid varnish creates a controlled contrast between matt and glossy areas. A logo, company name, pattern or other important design element catches the light and becomes more noticeable while the remaining surface stays restrained.

The finishing adds both visual depth and a tactile difference. It is a suitable choice for brands that want to communicate precision, modern technology and attention to detail without covering the entire card with a uniform gloss.

Artwork for selective varnish

The varnished elements must be supplied as separate vector objects and clearly identified in the production file. Very thin lines and extremely small details may not reproduce reliably. Upload the print artwork and varnish mask during the order. We will check alignment, minimum detail size and technical readiness before production.

Artwork submission rules
  • The file dimensions must match the artwork size including bleed. Follow the dimensions shown in the recommendations above.
  • Formats: PDF. Maximum file size: 400 MB.
  • Use 300 DPI for print, 200 DPI for large-format work and 150 DPI for very large products.
  • Use RGB if unsure. Use CMYK only if you understand prepress requirements. Remove embedded ICC profiles.
  • Embed all fonts in PDF files. Save JPEG without compression and TIFF with merged layers using ZIP/LZW.
  • For foil, varnish, contour cutting and other special processes, use vector spot objects with overprint.

      • Use the CMYK colour model only when the artwork was prepared with the correct print profile; otherwise submit the file in RGB.
      • Embed all fonts in PDF files or convert text to outlines.
      • Keep important text and logos inside the indicated safe area.
      • Do not place thin frames close to the trim line.
      • The maximum upload size is 400 MB.

      • Check the finished size, bleed and safe area before uploading the artwork.
      • Use high-resolution images and make sure linked graphics are included.
